Turkish Clarinet
Selim Sesler was born into a professional musician family in Edirne, Ke?an village in 1957. After the population exchange of 1923, his family moved from Greece to Turkey and settled in an enclave of Ke?an called Ibriktepe where they lived in the Yeni Mescit neighborhood.
He first learned to play the zurna (reed horn) then switched to Turkish clarinet (clarinet in G). In the 1980s Sesler participated in Romanes musician’s group, which performed in big cities like Istanbul, and developed his skill.
