American Tribal Style Dance
Christina King, A dancer of many styles since childhood, Christina discovered Middle-Eastern folkloric dance and began her studies in 1992 with Tahjah of Madison, Wisconsin. She was performing with Tahjah's troupe within the year, traveling throughout the Midwest with them. She eventually started teaching informally and choreographing for the
troupe. Soon after, Christina brought her talents to the Midwest Rock Opera Company (then called Tribe Theatre) and became a dancer, choreographer, and prinicpal actress in the company. Christina King, After moving to Chicago in 1996, Christina began teaching a small folkloric troupe of her own and studying Egyptian style bellydance under internationally acclaimed Jasmin Jahal. The transition from folkloric to a more modern style was just the challenge she was looking for. In Jasmin she found inspiration and a renewed love of the dance.
