Turkish Oriental and Turkish Romany (Gypys) Dance
Is well known for her sizzling Turkish Oriental dance style. She has danced since her childhood in Brasil. At age nineteen, Eva discovered Oriental Dance through Anahid Sofian in New York City and later worked in several of the night clubs there.
Anahid’s influence, Eva’s Eastern European heritage, and extensive travels in Turkey attracted her to practice the Turkish style.
Eva also incorporates techniques learned while working with “The Erdogans” Modern Turkish Oryantal dance troupe and as soloist with the Samir Sabri troupe in Cairo.
In addition to living in Brasil, Spain, Turkey, Egypt and Iraq, her travels took her to Syria, Iran, Morocco, and thirteen other countries. Fourteen years of intensive Sufic training also had its influence on Eva’s innovative and mesmerizing performances.
In 1997, Eva Cernik was voted Innovative Dancer of the Year, by the International Academy of Middle Eastern Dance. Eva teaches internationally and regularly offers dance-focused tours to Turkey, Egypt, and now Morocco!
